Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma may have tipped Nintendo's hand in regards to the next Zelda game heading to Switch.
Fans are said to have responded with applause, but the producer left everyone hanging with only that tease. Neither Aonuma nor anyone else at Nintendo has said anything else on the matter, so the statement can hardly be taken as an official announcement of anything.
Still, there are a couple reasons for Skyward Sword fans to be optimistic. For starters, Nintendo has already remastered and re-released series predecessors Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess over the past seven years. Skyward Sword being the next in order of release, and the last main console entry in the series before 2017's Breath of the Wild, which debuted on Switch, would seem to put it next in line for a remaster.
Additionally, Eurogamer reports that Nintendo is interested in releasing a Zelda game on Switch every year. Breath of the Wild launched alongside the console in 2017, and 2018 saw Nintendo port over Wii U spinoff Hyrule Warriors. With a presumed, but unannounced, Breath of the Wild sequel likely still another year away at minimum, it's plausible that Nintendo is slotting in a Skyward Sword remaster for 2019.
Earlier this month, it was discovered that Nintendo is staffing up for an unannounced new Legend of Zelda project. Nintendo is also said to be working on a Zelda game for mobile, and the company's president wants to release more DLC for existing major titles, which could include Breath of the Wild.
