BERLIN – Sony has displayed a full commitment to wearables at IFA 2014, and it doesn’t stop at smartwatches. The mobile mainstay’s head-mounted SmartEyeGlass aims to provide a useful suite of social and augmented reality apps in conjunction with your Android phone. We got an eyes-on taste of the wearable gadget’s latest prototype, which doesn’t yet have a firm price or release window.
The SmartEyeGlass is fairly lightweight for a pair of smartglasses, but you still won’t want to wear them on a date. While comfy, the device’s thick black frontal frames protruded significantly from my face, making me feel like Cyclops from the X-Men without the awesome lazer-shooting powers.
